Oásis Atlântico was formally created in 1998, however started operations years before that with the acquisition and remodeling of the Porto Grande Hotel (Mindelo) in 1995. Before that, in the early 90´s, after a trip to Cape Verde Islands, a group of partners acquired the "Companhia de Fomento de Cabo Verde", an old company of extraction and exploration of salt. Since 1998 the Oásis Atlântico group has sought to grow its hotel and tourism business to be able to provide the best accommodation and services to its guests. In 1998, it acquired 3 hotel units - Belorizonte Hotel (90 rooms, Sal Island); Praiamar Hotel (59 rooms, Santiago Island); and Xaguate Hotel (18 rooms, Fogo Island).
