Exploring Santiago Island

This 1 day tour to Santiago Island is definitely worth the trip! Some of the main sights include the botanic garden, "Tabanka's Museum", "Campo concentração", Tarrafal's Bay, mountains, green valleys (if we are in rainy season), fields of cultivation, beaches and the warm and kind people of Santiago.

Highlights of the tour are:

- departure from Praia
- São Domingos: visit to the aircraft centre where visitors will find souvenirs made by local artisans
- São Jorge: visit to the botanic garden which has several endemic species of plants; some of them on the verge of extinction
- Assomada City: visit to Tabanka's museum and the municipal market
- Tarrafal:  visit to "campo de concentração", an old Portuguese prison built during colonial times
- lunch at a restaurant in Tarrafal; and a dip at the most popular beach on the island
- return by the coast passing through Santa Cruz (banana plantation area)
- Pedra Badejo: a visit to the old port
- return to Praia.
